|Texas is already a wind powerhouse.|
Here Enterprises, Inc. is developing its first wind energy generation project in Floresville, Texas. Texas already leads the nation in wind power production with 9,727 MW of installed capacity.
According to the United States Department of Energy’s 2009 Wind Technologies Market Report published in August 2010, Texas again dominated in terms of new wind power capacity, with 2,292 MW installed in 2009 alone. Texas has more installed wind power than any other U.S. state and all but five countries worldwide.
The American Wind Energy Association reports that the six largest wind farms in the U.S. are now located in Texas. Texas currently has 9,727 MW of installed wind capacity, according to AWEA’s 3rd Quarter 2010 Market Report.
The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) reported in its 2009 Annual Report that wind accounted for 6.2% of Texas’s electricity production in 2009, up from 4.9% in 2008 and 2.9% in 2007.
Mark Ryun, CEO of Here Enterprises, commented, “Wind is as an excellent emissions-free, domestic and renewable energy source and Texas offers a plentiful supply. At Here Enterprises we are committed to harvesting abundant Texas wind to produce clean energy at our Cycle Ranch development project.”
