Mariah Power, a wind technology company that manufactures the Windspire vertical wind turbine, today announced the Windspire Energy Guarantee, the first of its kind for the small wind category. The Windspire Energy Guarantee is available to residential customers starting June 1, 2009. This new guarantee will assure homeowners of the annual energy production they can expect from their Windspire, and is backed with an offer of compensation for any shortfall. The announcement was made at the WINDPOWER 2009 Conference and Exhibition, the largest annual wind conference and exhibition in the world featuring over 20,000 attendees and over 1,200 exhibitors.
The Energy Guarantee will rely on a few key measures, including: the Windspire energy curve, derived from a power curve taken from real world data at an independent test facility; estimates of average wind speeds, and wind conditions during operation. The recently released WindSync software, which allows participants in the program to monitor their energy generation from the Windspire, will also enable Mariah Power to monitor energy production.
“This program gives customers our guarantee that the Windspire creates as much energy as we say it does,” said Mike Hess, CEO of Mariah Power. “The data collected will also help us enhance our test program so we can continue to improve our technology. Customers deserve to know what they are buying with the assurance that technology companies will stand behind their word.”
Reinforcing its commitment to providing the best in class product, Mariah Power is expanding its current independent testing program with an installation at the North Carolina Small Wind Energy Research and Demonstration Site at Appalachian State University.
Future plans also include an installation at the Texas Department of Agriculture’s test facility in West Texas. In an effort to continue its Mariah Power also plans to use the data from the sites, which will be collected in a variety of wind conditions, to customize the product for various wind regimes.
The Windspire, the first product from Mariah Power, is a small-scale vertical axis wind turbine designed to power homes or businesses. Standing just 30 feet tall, Windspire features a plug ‘n produce design that connects directly to the power supply of the building, offsetting electricity use and reducing energy costs.
The unit’s sleek and aesthetically pleasing design allows it to blend in well with a variety of settings, making it an ideal renewable energy option for home and business owners. The Windspire will generate 2000kWhs annually in 12mph average winds, which is about 25 percent of the annual energy of an average U.S. residence.
Based in Reno, Nevada, Mariah Power provides low-cost, low-noise, attractive wind power appliances for use with residential, business, and commercial buildings. The company’s patented technology maximizes energy conversion from wind into electric power, regardless of changing wind speed and direction. The company’s first vertical axis Windspire wind turbine is manufactured in the U.S. and is now available for shipment. For more information, visit www.mariahpower.com.
