Introducing the First Annual Home of the Future Net Zero design competition, taking place at Solar Canada, December 5th and 6th, 2016 in partnership with Emerging Leaders for Solar Energy (ELSE).
Student teams will have the opportunity to showcase their skills, and compete in designing a net zero home. Chosen teams will create a design and present their homes in the Special Feature area located on the trade show floor, December 5th and 6th.
Judging will occur December 6th in the Special Feature area, and teams will be evaluated on the following categories:
- Innovation – Show us how creative you can be
- Financial Analysis –Is a Net Zero home affordable and profitable?
- Architecture – Unique design and aesthetic
- Market Appeal – Ideal consumer, why net zero?
- Energy Use – How efficient is your home?
Selected judges will not be the only ones to select the winner. Conference and Exhibition attendees of Solar Canada will have the chance to weigh-in on which team they think hits the mark with their net zero home.
Prize packages will be awarded to those that score the highest in all five categories. One Grand Prize of $1,200 will be awarded to the team with the highest overall score.
All entries will be reviewed and scored and notified by Monday, November 4, 2016. Teams should include 2 to 4 members, not to exceed more than 4 participants. Application deadline is October 31, 2016.
