Originally founded in 1890 as a marine engineering company in the port of Hamburg, Spilling has grown steadily to become a global engineering company. Today, Spilling manufactures and supplies robust modular power units for flexible and efficient local power generation.
Spilling steam engines and turbines have proven themselves as prime movers for smaller and medium-sized biomass power generation plants both in industry and district energy suppliers. They are most often run as combined heat and power units. Sectors using the technology include the timber industry, pellet plants, biomass cogeneration plants, rice mills, the palm oil industry, and waste heat generation of electricity from biogas and vegetable oil engines with larger power output.
